What is ASP.NET || Explain

Define:

• ASP.NET extends the desktop language .NET and used for making the libraries and web applications.
• In the ASP.NET the some things added to the .NET language which make it more compatible for the web applications.

Versions:

• There are total five versions of the ASP.NET which release officially with the sub versions of every main version.

1. The first version of the ASP.NET released in the year 2002 with the Visual studio and .NET .The name of the version is ASP.NET 1.0.

• The sub version of the version 1.0 are:
• ASP.NET 1.1 released in 2003 with the windows server 2003 and visual studio 2003.

1. The second version of the ASP.NET released in the year 2005 with name ASP.NET 2.0.With the code name whidbey .Released with the windows server 2005 ,Visual studio 2005,Visual web developer express and SQL Server 2005.

• No sub version released with this version.

1. ASP.NET third version released in 2006 with name ASP.NET 3.0 .This version is used by the windows server for the log in purposes and many more.

• The sub versions of the ASP.NET 3.0 are:
• ASP.NET 3.5 released in 2007 with the visual studio 2008 and windows server 2008.
• ASP.NET 3.5 SERVICE PACK 1  released in 2008 with the visual studio 2008 service pack 1.

1. ASP.NET 4.0 released in year 2010 which have the features parallel extension and .net framework 4 features.

• The version four have many sub versions which are given below:
• ASP.NET 4.5       updated in 2012 
• ASP.NET 4.5.1    updated in 2013
• ASP.NET 4.5.2    updated in 2014
• ASP.NET 4.6       updated in 2015
• ASP.NET 4.6.1    updated in 2015
• ASP.NET 4.6.2    updated in 2016
• ASP.NET 4.7       updated in 2017
• ASP.NET 4.7.1    updated in 2017

1. The fifth version of the ASP.NET released in 2015 with the name 5RC1 .Actually later on this version converted from the ASP.NET to ASP.NET Core. Starting with the version from 1.0

Explained:

• ASP.NET is .NET platform extendable and have many extra features and used for making the web applications.
